Visit Distrito Nacional


The Distrito Nacional of Dominican Republic is the capital city of the country and a popular tourist destination. It is located on the Caribbean Sea in the southeastern part of the country. This vibrant city has a rich history, culture, and plenty of exciting attractions to explore.

One of the most famous locations to visit in Distrito Nacional is Parque Colon, a large public square surrounded by historic buildings such as Catedral Primada de America and Palacio de los Deportes Virgilio Travieso Soto. Other interesting stops include Panteon Nacional, Museo de Las Casas Reales, and Mercado Modelo.

History buffs will enjoy visiting Faro a Colon monument which commemorates Christopher Columbus' first voyage to America in 1492; it stands at an impressive 133 meters tall! Also noteworthy is Santo Domingo's Colonial Zone which has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990; it houses numerous landmarks including Alcazar de Colon palace and Catedral Santa Maria la Menor church which are both testament to Spanish colonial architecture.
