The El Valle region in Dominican Republic is a stunning destination with captivating landscapes, culture and history. It is located in the Cordillera Central Mountains which are known for their lush greenery and natural beauty. One of the must-see spots there is the El Valle Waterfall, which cascades down from a height of 30 meters into a beautiful natural swimming pool. El Valle has long been an important historical region of Dominican Republic as it was once home to indigenous people who built settlements on its land. The first free slave sanctuary in the Americas was established in this area by freed slaves led by Jose Nunez de Caceres between 1824 and 1838 during Spanish colonial rule. This town eventually became one of the main cities for independence movements which ultimately led to sovereignty for Dominicans from Spain in 1865.
