Visit San Juan Province

San Juan Province is located in the north of the Dominican Republic, and borders the Atlantic Ocean. It is a popular tourist destination due to its stunning beaches, tropical climate and cultural attractions. There are two main cities in San Juan - Monte Cristi and Imbert - which both have their own charm.

The most popular tourist attractions in San Juan include Los Haitises National Park, a protected area of mangroves, lagoons and cays that offers beautiful scenery for hiking and bird watching; as well as Cabo Cabron Marine Reserve where travelers can dive or snorkel to explore vibrant coral reefs teeming with marine life.

Historically, this province played an important role during the Spanish-American War when General Maximo Gomez used it as a strategic point in his offensive against American troops occupying Puerto Rico. He won several battles here before finally being forced to retreat by U.S forces led by General Miles at Las Carreras.
