Easter Island, or Isla de Pascua in Spanish, is a Chilean territory situated in the southeastern Pacific Ocean. It's famous for its mysterious moai statues created by the Rapa Nui people and scattered around the island. The moai are thought to have been carved between 1250 and 1500 CE as a way of venerating ancestors.

The treasure trove of archaeological sites on Easter Island attracts visitors from all over the world. A must-see is Rano Raraku, an ancient quarry where almost half of all known moai were carved out of volcanic rock. Visitors can also explore Ahu Tongariki, one of the largest ceremonial structures on Easter Island consisting of 15 giant statues facing inland toward a large hilltop shrine called Te Pito Kura.

Easter Island's history comes alive at Museo Antropologico Sebastian Englert which features numerous artifacts including tools, weapons and pottery belonging to various generations that lived on this isolated island over hundreds of years. Finally, no visit would be complete without exploring Orongo village with its unique ceremonial houses perched atop sea cliffs overlooking the crater lake below.
