Visit Chimborazo

Chimborazo is a province in Ecuador located east of the Andean mountain range. As part of the Avenue of Volcanoes, Chimborazo marks the highest point in Ecuador and contains beautiful landscapes with snow-covered peaks rising up to 6267 meters. Tourists can explore this stunning region by visiting iconic sites such as El Castillo, which is located on one of the peaks offering a stunning view over several volcanoes including Cotopaxi and Tungurahua. Alternatively they can visit Cajas National Park which offers lush vegetation and crystal clear lakes surrounded by green hillsides.

Chimborazo has an interesting history that dates back to pre-Inca times when it was home to one of South America's most influential civilizations - The Caranquis. Today, local archaeological sites bear witness to this ancient culture as well as the more modern colonial period. In addition, artisanal products made from llama wool are still highly valued today as traditional souvenirs from Chimborazo.
