El Oro is a province located in the southwestern part of Ecuador. It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the west, and to the south by Loja Province. El Oro has a unique culture, a mild climate, and stunning landscapes that make it a popular destination for tourists from around the world.

One of El Oro's most popular tourist attractions is Machalilla National Park. This park encompasses both dry tropical forest and mangrove swamps, providing visitors with plenty of opportunities to explore and observe native wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, iguanas, and rare birds. The town of Puerto Lopez is also well worth visiting with its beautiful beaches and white-sand coves where whales can often be seen in their natural habitats during certain times of year.

Another interesting historical fact about El Oro is that it was once home to one of Ecuador's oldest gold mines - Cerro Blanco - which dates back to pre-Hispanic times. It was here that Spanish conquistadors first discovered gold in South America more than 500 years ago. Today visitors can still explore this site which provides an insight into this important part of Ecuadorian history
