The Galapagos Islands of Ecuador are an archipelago of volcanic islands located about 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador in the Pacific Ocean. The wildlife and natural beauty of these islands have made them one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

One of the main attractions is wildlife viewing, as visitors can observe a variety of endemic species like marine iguanas, sea lions, blue-footed boobies, giant tortoises and more. Popular sites to visit include Bartolome Island, where visitors can explore its volcanic landscape and snorkel with penguins; and Floreana Island, which offers some great hiking trails to discover its unique flora and fauna.

In 1835 Charles Darwin visited the Galapagos Islands for five weeks during his famous voyage on HMS Beagle. As a result of his observations during this visit, Darwin developed his Theory Of Evolution by Natural Selection which has changed our understanding about species evolution ever since.
