The Guayas Region is a province in the Ecuadorian coast located in the central-southern part of the country. It's known for its stunning landscapes, traditional culture and diverse wildlife. It is also a popular tourist destination with an abundance of activities to explore.

One of the most renowned attractions in this region is Santay Island which is found in Daule Canton and offers spectacular views from its hills and cliffs as well as ample opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking or boat rides around the island. Another great spot for tourists to visit are Machala's Waterfalls where visitors can enjoy a refreshing dip near its natural beauty or take a guided tour through its winding trails.

An interesting historical fact regarding this area is that it was home to Ecuador's first-ever short film production entitled "El Mariachi" which was filmed back in 1929 by director Carlos Freile Zaldumbide using local talent from Guayas Province. This movie eventually made it's way to Cannes Film Festival and still stands today as one of the world's earliest examples of filmmaking outside Hollywood studios.
