The Pastaza Province of Ecuador is a relatively unknown area that offers its visitors stunning landscapes, interesting historical sites, and plenty of outdoor activities. Located in the Amazon region of Ecuador, it borders Peru to the south and boasts incredible biodiversity. It's renowned for its spectacular mountains, waterfalls, and rivers.

Popular tourist attractions in the Pastaza Province include the El Angel Ecological Reserve which holds an impressive variety of flora and fauna as well as scenic views from atop its highest hill at 4200m. Game fishing can be enjoyed at one of several riverside resorts.

The historical town of Puyo is worth exploring too with some amazing colonial architecture, churches and museums where visitors can learn about the province's traditional culture and history. In addition to this there are many festivals that take place throughout the year so you won't miss out on any local customs or celebrations if you visit during this time!

An interesting fact about Pastaza Province is that it was pioneered by a Spanish explorer called Francisco de Orellana who first traveled down the Amazon River in 1542 looking for El Dorado - an ancient city made entirely out of gold - but he never found it!
