The Zamora-Chinchipe region in Ecuador is a beautiful and diverse part of the country. Located in the southeastern corner of Ecuador, it is close to the border with Peru and shares some of its culture with its neighbor. It's home to a variety of landscapes such as subtropical rainforests, cloud forests, swamps, savannas and Andean mountain range.

Two popular tourist sites are Cajas National Park and Yacuambi Cathedral. Cajas National Park is home to an array of animals such as wild horses, pumas and bears along with hundreds of bird species. The park includes more than 250 crystal clear lakes surrounded by towering mountains creating endless possibilities for nature lovers looking for adventure or just relaxation! Meanwhile Yacuambi Cathedral features an old colonial building built over 200 years ago that has been carefully preserved throughout time making it a great destination for history buffs looking to gain insight into the past through this rich cultural landmark.

An interesting historical fact about Zamora-Chinchipe province is that it was one of eight provinces created when Ecuador became an independent republic in 1830. This area had previously been occupied by Inca people before being taken over by Spain during their colonization period in South America so has lots intriguing stories to tell!
