Al Giza Desert, Giza Governorate, Egypt

The Great Sphinx of Giza is an iconic symbol of ancient Egypt, located in the city of Giza. It was carved from a single limestone outcrop around 4500 years ago and stands 73.5 m long, 19.3 m wide and 20 m high. Visitors can explore the huge statue up close, taking in its remarkable details such as the intricate carvings on its headdress and face with their own eyes. The Sphinx is also surrounded by many other sites including Khafre’s Causeway and Pyramid, making it a great place to learn about ancient Egyptian history and mythology during a visit.

Plan your visit

Planning ahead for a visit to the Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt is a great way to maximize your experience. Here are some tips and tricks: 1. Book your tickets online in advance - this not only ensures that you will be able to enter the site, but also helps avoid any potential queues or waiting times. 2. Bring plenty of water and snacks - as there are limited food options onsite, bringing drinks and snacks with you can help make your day more enjoyable. 3. Wear comfortable shoes - as there’s lots of walking involved at the site, wearing comfortable footwear is highly recommended! 4.
