Pyramids of Giza are some of the most iconic structures in the world. Located just outside of Cairo, Egypt, these ancient monuments were built over 4,500 years ago and are among the oldest man-made structures still standing. The three main pyramids - Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure - together with their associated temples and sphinx have stood as testimony to ancient Egyptian culture for centuries. Visiting this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a must for any Egypt enthusiast; stand in awe at each pyramid’s size and detail, marvel at the Great Sphinx which guards them all, or explore inside one of them to discover hidden tombs!
Plan your visit
If you’re planning a visit to the Pyramids of Giza, here are some tips and tricks to consider:
1. Book your tickets ahead of time - don’t wait until the last minute!
2. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you don’t mind getting dusty or sandy.
3. Bring plenty of water and snacks with you as there are no shops around the pyramids.
4. Consider hiring a tour guide if this is your first time visiting - they can provide additional information about the history, culture, and monuments at Giza that an online search won’t give you!
5. Bring along sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun during hot days in Egypt’s desert climate
6. If possible, try to visit either early in the morning or late afternoon when temperatures are more bearable outside!
