Visit Maţrūḩ

The Matruh region of Egypt is located in the northwest corner of the country along the Mediterranean Sea and borders Libra and Sudan. It has a rich history, culture, and natural beauty that makes it a popular destination for tourists. The ancient city of Cyrene is located here as well as other historical sites such as Apollonia, Leptis Magna, and Ptolemais.

Tourists flock to Matruh's beaches -- including Cleopatra Beach, Gharam Beach, and Sidi Barrani -- which are renowned for their pristine waters and soft sands. Those looking to explore nature can take a day trip to Siwa Oasis or to Akabah Bay Nature Reserve where they can see an array of wildlife such as gazelles, jackals, foxes, wildcats, mongooses and more!

Additionally there are monuments from ancient times like the Ramses II temple at Siwa Oasis or long-forgotten tombs at Akabah Bay Nature Reserve that tell stories about this area's past. An interesting historical fact is that Napoleon Bonaparte used this region as an encampment in 1798 before he invaded Egypt!
