Visit San Vicente Department

San Vicente
174.6 thousand

The San Vicente Department of El Salvador is located in central-eastern part of the country, with a population of just over 200,000 people. It is known for its lush green valleys and winding rivers that cut through the volcanic landscape. It's also home to some of El Salvador's best coffee plantations and farms, as well as some historical sites from its colonial past.

Tourists visiting the area can explore both natural wonders and historical attractions. Visitors can go mountain biking in the hills outside of San Vicente or take a guided tour through one of the many coffee plantations in the region. Atop Cerro Verde peak stands a memorial dedicated to those who fell during El Salvador's civil war; it affords visitors breathtaking views across coastal plains and into neighboring Honduras. Finally, history buffs should check out Santa Cruz de Guzman: an old Spanish fortress built around 1666 as part of El Salvador's defense system against pirates encroaching upon their coasts at the time!
