The Usulutan Department of El Salvador is a stunningly diverse region filled with captivating culture and history. It lies in the southeastern corner of the country, and its capital city, Usulutan, is an important center of commerce in the country. It is well-known for its strong agricultural industry, particularly sugarcane and coffee production.

Usulutan also has some great tourist attractions for visitors to explore. One must-see destination is Cerro El Pital, which at 2,730 metres above sea level is the highest point in El Salvador. The area around it offers breathtaking scenic views and a great place for hiking and camping. Another interesting stop is Tazumal Temple Ruins - an archaeological site from pre-Columbian times where visitors can marvel at artifacts from ancient civilizations.

Usulutan also has a rich historical past - it was formerly known as Cuscatlan during pre-colonial times and was home to various indigenous cultures such as the Pipil people until Spanish Colonization in 1524. Today, these cultural influences remain visible throughout the region's many festivals like La Feria de San Sebastian which celebrates with traditional music and dance every year on January 20th.
