Visit Sidama Region


The Sidama Region is a province located in the south-central part of Ethiopia. It is bordered by the Oromia, Gurage, and Hadiya zones and the country of Kenya. The region is known for its deep connection to coffee production and its beautiful natural environment, with forests filled with lush foliage and waterfalls. One of the most popular tourist attractions in Sidama Region is Arba Minch National Park. This park features numerous animal species including kudu, baboons, colobus monkeys, leopards, and more! There are also a number of stunning lakes here which are perfect for swimming or bird watching during summer months. Another spot to visit in this area is Chencha Palace Ruins Taxera Stelae Park near Hawassa City which offers an insight into ancient Ethiopian culture with its archaeological remains dating back to 14th century AD.

The Sidama people have a rich history that dates back centuries and today they celebrate their heritage through traditional song and dance performances held annually at churches throughout the region.
