Visit West Point Island

West Point Island is a small rural settlement located on the western side of the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic Ocean. It is mainly made up of farms and has a population of about 100 people. The beautiful landscape includes rolling hills, moorlands, and coastal cliffs with stunning views over Saunders Island and Sea Lion Island to the north-west.

One of West Point's main attractions are its archipelago beaches with crystal clear waters and pristine white sand - perfect for swimming, boating or kayaking. Additionally, tourists can visit Sapper Hill, where they will find remnants of an old British fort from the 1982 Falkland War era.

A fun historical fact is that West Point was once home to Sir Ernest Shackleton who camped there in 1909 during his Nimrod Expedition to Antarctica. He had stopped there en route to South Georgia Island for supplies before heading south towards Antarctica on board his ship Nimrod.

Overall West Point Island offers visitors an opportunity to experience nature in its most pure form as well as discover insight into some of Falkland's historic moments!
