Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes is a region located in the southeast of France. It borders Switzerland, Italy and seven other French regions. The region offers many different landscapes from the Provence Alps in the south to the Massif Central in the north, making it ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking and skiing.

The regional capital, Lyon, is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning architecture and delicious gastronomy. Other interesting cities include Grenoble with its alpine scenery and ski resorts; Annecy with its ancient canals; Valence and its Roman ruins; Chambery with its charming town center; Saint Etienne known for its industrial heritage; Vichy famous for thermal baths dating back to antiquity.

The Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes also boasts a rich cultural heritage, particularly evident in Cluny where remains of an 11th century Benedictine abbey still stand today. A must see is Chateau de la Batie d'Urfe which has been standing since 1585 near St Etienne!
