Valence is a city in southeastern France located along the Rhone River. It lies within the Rhone-Alpes region and is about 25 miles from Lyon. Valence has a rich history dating back to Roman times, making it an interesting destination for those wanting to explore its vast history.

The city of Valence offers visitors plenty of things to do and see, including its historic center with many landmarks such as the Clock Tower, Saint Apollinaire Cathedral, and the former Benedictine Abbey. There are also plenty of museums to explore that provide insights into Valence's past including Musee de la Tour Philippe le Bel and Musee Lapidaire de l'Histoire de Valence.

For nature lovers there is Parc Naturel Regional du Vercors nearby which offers breathtaking views of the Alps as well as outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, climbing and paragliding. Additionally, Valence hosts several festivals throughout the year such as Fete des Lavandieres (the Festival of Washerwomen) in August which celebrates local culture through music and dance performances by washerwomen dressed in traditional costumes!
