Discover Dole

 
Dole is a picturesque town located in the Jura region of eastern France. It has a rich history that dates back to Roman times and boasts numerous historical landmarks and sites that make it an interesting place to visit. The old city center contains many medieval buildings, such as the 13th century Gothic-style Cathedrale Saint-Etienne de Dole, which is open for visits every day. Also worth exploring are the remains of Dole's 12th century castle and its unique archaeological museum, which houses collections from prehistoric times up to the 19th century.

The most outstanding feature in this area is the lovely Canal du Rhone au Rhin - an old waterway used by barges that passes through town offering stunning views along its route - perfect for walking or cycling trips! There are also several beautiful nature reserves nearby, including La Planche des Belles Filles Nature Reserve where wild birds can be spotted in abundance.

No visit would be complete without tasting some delicious local food and wine; Dole produces some fantastic varieties of Jura wines as well as other regional delicacies such as Comte cheese, smoked meats and even macarons! Finally, there are plenty of events throughout the year celebrating Dole's culture ranging from music festivals to outdoor activities like rafting on Ardeche Gorge river.
