Discover Douarnenez

Douarnenez is a coastal city located in the Finistere department of Brittany, France. It lies between the estuary of the River Aven and the Bay of Douarnenez, on a peninsula called Treboul. This picturesque city is known for its sandy beaches, particularly from Portsall to Pors-Poulhan. Tourists can also explore Port de Plaisance de Pouldavid - a harbor located at the heart of Douarnenez which serves as an entry point for boats coming from all over Europe.

The old town centre of Douarnenez has many well-preserved houses dating back to 15th century, reminding visitors about its long rich history as one of France's most prosperous fishing ports in 19th century. Visitors should not miss Musee des Traditions Populaires which showcases regional customs and traditions through interactive exhibits while also providing an insight into life in old port towns. A stroll along Rue de la Paix will lead you to Place des Oeufs - one of the main attractions in town where locals gather every Saturday morning to sell their fresh produce including eggs and vegetables.
For nature lovers, Parc Naturel Regional d'Armorique is a great outdoors destination with many hiking trails surrounded by lush greenery and gorgeous views all around - definitely worth exploring!
