Neighborhood half day

Quai de la Poissonnerie, 68000 Colmar, France

The Fishmonger District, also known as “La Krutenau,” is a charming neighborhood located in the heart of Colmar, France. This historic district, with its unique half-timbered houses and peaceful canals, was once the bustling center of the city’s fish trade. Today, it’s a picturesque area that offers a glimpse into the city’s rich past. The district’s beautiful architecture, combined with the serene atmosphere of the canals, makes it a must-visit spot for any traveler.

One of the main attractions in the Fishmonger District is the Maison Pfister, a stunning 16th-century house that’s considered a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture. Another must-see is the local market, where you can sample local delicacies and buy fresh produce. Don’t forget to take a leisurely stroll along the canals, where you can enjoy the district’s charm and tranquility. The Fishmonger District is a perfect blend of history, beauty, and local culture that should not be missed when visiting Colmar.

Plan your visit

  1. Visit the Marche Couvert, the largest covered market in Colmar - it’s a great place to pick up fresh seafood and other local produce.
  2. Take a stroll down rue des Pecheurs (the Fisherman’s Street) and explore all of the wonderful seafood restaurants located there; make sure to try some of their famous fish soup!
  3. Drop by La Maison du Boucher for delicious meat specialties, including beef tartare, veal blanquette, and more!
  4. Stop by Les Halles de Colmar (the Fishmonger District Market) for an amazing selection of fresh fish from around Alsace as well as regional variety such as smoked trout or perch fillet with meuniere sauce.
  5. Don’t forget to take home some traditional “Fischfangkorb” - you will find these at various stands around town - they are perfect souvenirs for yourself or gifts for family back home!

Magnifique!! A voir absolument! Maisons à colombages très colorées, donnant sur la Lauch, fleurs le long de la promenade, nombreux restaurants et cafés
