Discover Saint-Denis

Saint-Denis is a vibrant, historic city located in the northern suburbs of Paris, France. It's home to nearly 110,000 people and it's the capital of the Ile-de-France region. The city has been an important historical center since Roman times and its many monuments reflect this long history.

When visiting Saint-Denis there are several must see attractions that shouldn't be missed. The Basilica of Saint Denis is a stunning gothic church with its origins dating back to 1136 AD. The basilica houses tombs of many French kings and queens including Eleanor of Aquitaine, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette located in the Royal Necropolis within the crypts beneath the Church. Another must see attraction is Jardin d'Eole which was designed by Francois Andre Villepreux in 1848 - it's one of France's oldest public gardens with manicured lawns, flower beds and 13 fountains. Lastly, there's also no better way to experience life as a local than visiting La Grand Place de Saint Denis where you can drink coffee or eat pastries outside at one of its many cafes while watching people go about their day-to-day activities in this bustling city centre square.
