The Palace of Versailles is a masterpiece of French architecture located in the city of Versailles, France. Built for Louis XIV in the mid-1600s, it is an iconic symbol of luxury and excess. The grounds feature expansive manicured gardens, ornate fountains and stunning architecture that has been preserved to this day. Visitors have the opportunity to explore several spectacular rooms such as the Hall of Mirrors, Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon which showcase intricate details from paintings to sculptures. Additionally, those who visit will marvel at Marie Antoinette’s estate with its own private theatre and exquisite furnishings. Plan ahead when visiting the Palace of Versailles! Before your visit, make sure you buy tickets online to avoid waiting in long lines. Doing a bit of research and learning about the palace’s history will help you appreciate it even more when you get there. Pack a lunch if possible, as restaurants can be expensive.
