Neighborhood half day

Nestled on a steep cliff in the Lot River valley in France, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie is a picturesque Medieval town. It is part of the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France Association and its beauty has attracted visitors since the Middle Ages. The town remains largely unchanged since that time, with its cobbled streets winding around ancient stone buildings that are built right into the cliff face.

One of the main attractions in Saint-Cirq-Lapopie is its 12th century church, Notre Dame de l’Assomption. The Romanesque building features stunning stained glass windows and vibrant frescoes depicting scenes from both the Old and New Testaments. If you take some time to explore further upriver along the Lot Valley, you will find an interesting mix of Romanesque bridges and traditional ferries used by locals to cross over from one side to another.
