Visit Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia


The Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia lies within the country of Georgia, on the northeastern coast of the Black Sea. It is bordered by Russia to the north and east, and by Georgia proper to the south and west. The region has a rich cultural heritage, with a population comprised mainly of Georgians, Abkhazians, Armenians and Russians. It is renowned for its warm subtropical climate, making it an inviting destination for holiday-makers.

Abkhazia is home to many beautiful beaches along its coastlines which make up a significant part of its tourist attractions. Two popular spots are Gagra Beach located in Gagra town in Northern Abkhazia; and Pitsunda Beach situated near Pitsunda Town in Western Abkhazia. Tourists often visit these spots for sunbathing or swimming in summertime or simply enjoying nature's beauty all year round.

Historically speaking, Abkhazia was once an independent kingdom until it was conquered by Tsar Alexander I in 1810 after a long war between Russia and Turkey over control over the region's territories. This event marked one of major victories over Ottoman forces during this period leading to Russian dominance over Europe at large during that time - a point still remembered today amongst locals citizens living there as well as those around them throughout both Europe and beyond!
