Visit Guria

The Guria region of Georgia is a unique and fascinating place to visit. Located between the Caucasus Mountains and the Black Sea, the area boasts beautiful landscapes, quaint villages, and warm hospitality. The region is well known for its food and wine as well as its culture that has been shaped by centuries of interaction with neighboring countries.

One popular tourist attraction in Guria is Motsameta Monastery, an 8th century fortress perched on a cliff overlooking the river Supsa. It's here that visitors can learn about Georgian culture through guided tours or explore on their own. Another great place to visit is Ozurgeti City Square, where people can enjoy traditional music performances in addition to shopping from local artisans selling handmade crafts.

Guria also has an interesting historical background; it was part of the ancient kingdom of Colchis which dates back to at least 1000 BC. In more recent times it was an important center for Christianity as it served as a major stronghold for resisting Islamic invaders during 18th century wars with Turkey and Persia. From this past come many stories that are still told today around campfires in rural villages throughout Georgia's picturesque countryside!
