Visit Mtskheta-Mtianeti

Mtskheta-Mtianeti is a region in eastern Georgia, located at the junction of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. It is known for its stunning scenery, including the Caucasus Mountains and lush green valleys. It's also home to some of Georgia's most important historical and religious sites. The region is dotted with ancient churches, monasteries and fortresses that serve as a reminder of its storied past.

One popular tourist attraction in Mtskheta-Mtianeti is Jvari Monastery, which dates back to the 6th century AD. This site offers spectacular views of Mtskheta city below as well as mountains in the distance. Another must-see spot is Uplistsikhe cave city, an 8th century settlement that was once a major center of pagan worship before Christianity replaced it in later centuries.

One interesting fact about this region is that it was once home to one of Christianity's most important figures: St. Nino from Cappadocia who baptized King Mirian III here in 337 AD, making Georgia one of the first Christian countries in the world!
