Visit Senaki Municipality

The Senaki Municipality of Georgia is located in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region and is rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. With lush forests, mountainous terrain, and a beautiful coastline along the Black Sea, there is plenty to see and explore. Popular tourist attractions include the ancient archaeological site at Tsalenjikha Castle and the famous seaside resort of Ureki.

Senaki has an interesting history as well. It was once part of the Principality of Mingrelia back in 1578, but became part of Russia after 1810. During World War II, it was occupied by Nazi Germany for almost two years until their retreat in 1944. And during Soviet times, it served as an important base for naval forces operating out of Abkhazia.
