Alfeld is a town located in the southern region of Lower Saxony, Germany. It lies at the foot of the Leineberg hill range and is mainly known for its history. Alfeld has been documented since 818 CE and was part of the Hanseatic League from 1368 - 1650 CE, making it one of the oldest cities in Germany. Visitors to Alfeld will be delighted to experience several historic sites and museums that provide insight into this city's rich past.
