Neighborhood

Speicherstadt, located in Hamburg, Germany, is the world’s largest warehouse district where the buildings stand on timber-pile foundations. This unique district, built from 1883 to 1927, is made up of a network of canals and bridges, and its neo-Gothic red-brick architecture gives it a distinctive and timeless appeal. In 2015, it was awarded the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site, reflecting its historical and cultural significance.

Visitors to Speicherstadt should not miss the Miniatur Wunderland, the world’s largest model railway exhibition, and the Hamburg Dungeon, a live-actor led attraction that presents 600 years of the city’s dark history. The district’s coffee, spices, and carpet shops also offer a unique shopping experience, while the Speicherstadt Museum provides a deep dive into the history of the warehouse district.
