Visit Ashanti

The Ashanti people of Ghana are a dominant ethnic and cultural group in the nation. They are descendants of the Akan, who originally inhabited the area now known as Ghana centuries ago. The Ashanti are known for their rich culture, including music, art and crafts, dance, folklore and cuisine. A visit to Kumasi - the capital city of their traditional homeland - will give you an opportunity to experience their unique culture first-hand.

Kumasi is home to several tourist attractions such as Asantehene's palace (the official residence of the king), Manhyia Palace Museum which provides insight into traditional Ashanti life, and Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II Park where visitors can explore a sacred grove filled with trees that represent important historical figures in the area.

One interesting historical fact about this ancient people is that they were one of the few West African cultures to never be colonized by Europeans during colonial times due to their strong military power and vibrant economy which was based on gold extraction from their own lands.
