Visit Upper East Region

The Upper East Region of Ghana is situated in the north-eastern corner of the country, bordering Burkina Faso and Togo. It is an area of lush green landscapes with high mountains, rolling hills, and wide savannas. The region is home to some fascinating traditional cultures such as the Mampurigi people and their unique traditions, music and dance styles.

One must-see tourist destination is Bolgatanga - often referred to as Bolga - which has a bustling Saturday market known as the 'Bolga Bull's Market' where vendors come from all corners of the country to barter goods. Another worthwhile attraction in this part of Ghana is Paga Crocodile Pond where visitors can feed huge crocodiles by hand!

Upper East Region holds an interesting piece of history too; it was here that one small village called Navrongo declared independence from Britain in 1957 during the Ghanaian Revolution before finally being re-integrated into British governance two years later.
