Visit Volta

The Volta Region of Ghana is a beautiful destination full of spectacular scenery, vibrant culture, and rich history. Located in the southeastern corner of Ghana, it is one of the country's ten administrative regions and lies along the Volta River. The most popular tourist attractions are Mount Afadjato, which is West Africa's highest mountain peak; Wli Falls, one of Ghana's largest waterfalls; and Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary.

Interesting historical facts include that Adjogbli village was founded in 1745 by Chief Asigame Awuna who had fled from Dahomey (now Benin), bringing with him the voodoo religion which can still be seen today. Additionally, Notsie Palace was built in 1750 by King Agokoli I as a refuge for escaped slaves who were allowed to settle there on their path to freedom.

The Volta Region offers visitors an unforgettable experience - whether it be exploring traditional villages or hiking trails along breathtaking mountain ranges - making it well worth visiting during your stay in Ghana!
