Athens is the capital of Greece and one of Europe's oldest cities, having been inhabited since Neolithic times. Located in southern Greece on the Saronic Gulf, Athens is an international metropolis and a major global city. As a bustling metropolitan city, Athens has many attractions for visitors to enjoy.

The Acropolis is perhaps the most famous attraction in Athens; it was built around 5th century BCE as a fortified citadel and includes iconic monuments such as The Parthenon, Temple of Athena Nike, and Erechtheion. These structures are examples of amazing ancient Greek architecture that stand proud atop the hill overlooking the city of Athens today.

Another iconic landmark in Athens is Syntagma Square which serves as the main hub for transportation and public activities within Athens. This large plaza contains many important buildings such as Parliament House (Old Royal Palace), National Garden, Zappeion Hall, Tomb of Unknown Soldier and more. Additionally, visitors can explore Ermou Street which is filled with restaurants, cafes and shops hosting traditional Greek products from jewelry to leather goods to fashion pieces.

No visit to Athens would be complete without also experiencing its vibrant nightlife culture along with traditional Greek food like souvlaki or baklava!
