Visit Avannaa (North Greenland)

Avannaa is a stunning region of Greenland located in the northern part of the country. Here you will find awe-inspiring landscapes, dramatic Arctic fjords and beautiful glaciers. This is a remote corner of the world where Arctic wildlife roam wild and free in their natural habitats.

Two places to visit are Disko Bay and Ilulissat Icefjord. Disko Bay offers an amazing landscape with snow-capped hills, glacial ice blocks, hot springs and plenty of opportunities for fishing, whale watching and kayaking. Ilulissat Icefjord is on UNESCO's World Heritage list due to its impressive glacier formations that cascade down from the Greenland ice sheet into the bay below.

An interesting historical fact about Avannaa is that it was once home to nomadic Inuit tribes dating back over 4,000 years ago who lived off whale hunting in small settlements along the coast line until modern times. This rich culture can still be seen today as locals proudly practice traditional Inuit crafts such as ivory carving and sealskin clothing making passed down through generations.
