Visit Zacapa

The Zacapa region of Guatemala is located in the eastern part of the country, bordering El Salvador and Honduras. It is known for its lush tropical forests, pristine rivers, and rolling hills. The area also has a vibrant coffee industry and produces some of the world's best coffee beans.

For tourists visiting Zacapa there are two popular attractions: Las Victorias National Park and Laguna de Ayarza. Las Victorias National Park features a wide range of activities such as hiking, fishing, camping, kayaking, and birdwatching to enjoy while taking in stunning views from atop its mountains. Meanwhile Laguna de Ayarza provides visitors with an opportunity to observe local wildlife such as various species of fish, crocodiles, iguanas, turtles, bats and several species of birds in their natural habitat.

One interesting historical fact about Zacapa is that it was once home to the famous Mayan civilization - one that flourished between AD 250-900 before Spanish conquerors arrived in 1524 CE. Archaeological sites can still be found throughout Zacapa which offer insight into this ancient culture's intricate hieroglyphics and complex architecture - something no visitor should miss!
