Visit Bissau

Bissau is the capital of Guinea-Bissau located in the northwest part of the country. It is a small city on an estuary of the Geba River and is home to around 500,000 people. Bissau's terrain consists of coastal plains, swamps and islands while its climate experiences high temperatures throughout most of the year. The city has a unique blend of African culture combined with Portuguese influences as well as some other cultures from former colonies.

For tourists, there are plenty of interesting sights to visit in Bissau such as Joao Vieira National Park which contains beautiful mangrove forests, wildlife and fishing villages or take a tour exploring Orango Islands National Park with its unique network canals running through it. For history buffs there are also several museums such as Palacio de Contas de Bissau or Estacao Maritima Museum featuring diverse objects from Guinea-Bissua's past including weapons used during independence struggle against Portugal in late 19th century.
