The Oio Region of Guinea-Bissau is located in the center of the country, on the banks of the Cacheu River. It is known for its stunning landscapes with wide expanses of savannah and lush forests. Popular activities include bird watching, exploring traditional villages, and visiting nearby nature reserves.

Two popular places to visit in Oio are The Quelele Nature Reserve and Abada Falls. The Quelele Nature Reserve offers unique opportunities to observe a variety of wildlife species including elephants, antelopes, turtles and many more. On the other hand, Abada Falls features two tiers cascading over 60 meters into a deep rock pool surrounded by lush forests that visitors can explore.

An interesting historical fact about Oio is that it was once part of a kingdom called N'ko Sharka which covered much of modern day Guinea-Bissau between 1400 - 1600 AD making it one of the oldest kingdoms in West Africa at that time period!
