Visit Quinara Region

The Quinara region of Guinea-Bissau is located in the northwest corner of the country and has a coastline facing the Atlantic Ocean. The region has substantial wildlife, both on land and sea, making it an attractive destination for tourists. Visitors to Quinara can explore everything from breathtaking lagoons to vast coastal savannas. Two popular tourist attractions include the Joao Vieira Marine Park, home to a diverse selection of marine life, or Orango Island National Park with its stunning beaches and cultural history.

An interesting fact about Quinara is that it was originally part of Portugal's African colonies until 1974 when it achieved independence after an armed struggle against colonial rule led by Amilcar Cabral. Today this region remains a vital part of Guinea-Bissau's national identity and culture.
