Visit Sul Province


The Sul Province is located in the southern region of Guinea-Bissau and is known for its beautiful landscapes, pleasant climate, and abundance of wildlife. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and Senegal to the south. Tourists can explore the stunning beaches along this coastline or go island hopping on one of many ferries that cross between Senegal and Guinea-Bissau. Historical sites such as Fortaleza de Sao Joao Baptista de Ajuda are also popular attractions in this region. Built in 1792 by a king from Benin, it has become an iconic landmark within Sul Province. Visitors can also explore nearby villages where they can witness traditional African life up close, learn about culture through art galleries or take part in fishing activities with locals on nearby rivers or lagoons. One must see destination in Sul Province is Ilha de Orango National Park which offers visitors breathtaking scenery combined with incredible biodiversity including a variety of bird species and reptiles living among mangrove forests and swamps. An interesting historical fact about this region is that it was once an important Portuguese trading post during colonial times due to its strategic location near both Europe and Africa.
