Visit Tombali

Tombali is one of the eight provinces in the African country of Guinea-Bissau. Located in the south-eastern corner, it is neighbored by Senegal and Guinea to its north and east respectively. The landscape of Tombali is dotted with savanna grasslands which are home to many species of wildlife including antelopes, buffalos and baboons.

The capital city of Tombali province, Sao Domingos offers a variety of cultural attractions for tourists such as traditional Geba villages, like the village of Doni Amos with its old church set on a hillside surrounded by palm trees. Tourists can also visit Porto Pidjiguiti where they can stroll through colorful markets and observe local fishermen preparing their daily catch on the beach.

From a historical perspective, Tombali was once part of Portuguese Guinea during colonial rule before becoming part of independent Guinea-Bissau in 1974. An interesting fact about Tombali is that it has one of West Africa's largest mangrove swamps - an important ecosystem for birds and other wildlife which serves as habitat for rare species such as estuary crocodiles!
