Visit Tombali Region


The Tombali Region of Guinea-Bissau is located in the southwestern part of the country, covering an area of 4,975 square kilometers. It has a population of over 400,000 people and its main city is Bafata. The region is home to many historical sites and beautiful natural attractions.

One popular tourist destination in the Tombali Region is Mount Cha das Cobras. This volcanic mountain tops out at 658 meters above sea level and offers stunning views over the surrounding landscape. There are also various hiking trails that offer breathtaking vistas across forests, wetlands, and savannahs.

The stunning Cahombo National Park provides another opportunity for visitors to explore some amazing scenery. With its diverse habitat ranging from tropical rainforest to rolling hillsides it offers a great chance for wildlife spotting like elephants, antelopes, monkeys, crocodiles and more than 200 species of birds!

An interesting historical fact about Tombali Region is that it was once home to a powerful kingdom known as Gabu during 16th century until early 20th century when it was eventually taken by Portuguese colonists during their colonization process in West Africa .
