Visit Francisco Morazán Department


The Francisco Morazan Department of Honduras is located in the central region of the country and is named after the Honduran hero, Francisco Morazan. It includes the capital city of Tegucigalpa as well as some of Honduras' most beautiful rural areas.

Tourists to this department can explore La Tigra National Park which offers stunning views and a dense cloud forest as well as numerous hiking trails. They can also visit Lake Yojoa, Central America's largest natural lake, for fishing, sightseeing and camping.

In addition to its great natural attractions, there are several fascinating historical sites in this department too. One such site is Comayagua Cathedral whose construction began in 1570 making it one of Central America's oldest churches. The palace-like presidential residence known as Casa Presidencial is also worth a visit for anyone interested in Honduran history and culture.
