Budapest

Budapest is the capital of Hungary, located on both sides of the Danube River. Known as the 'Pearl of the Danube', it is one of Europe's most beautiful cities with stunning architecture and a vibrant cultural scene.

Take a stroll along Andrassy Avenue, lined with Neo-Renaissance mansions, to admire its grandeur. Then take a funicular up to Castle Hill for majestic views over Budapest and visit some historical sites such as Buda Castle and Mathias Church. There are also many museums like House Of Terror and Hungarian National Gallery, which offer fascinating insight into Hungary's past and present.

A visit to Budapest wouldn't be complete without sampling its local delicacies such as Szeged goulash or Transylvanian-style goulash soup. You can also explore some thermal baths such as Szechenyi Spa & Baths or Gellert Baths for relaxation after sightseeing.

An interesting fact about Budapest is that it was founded in 1873 following the unification of three former cities; Buda on one side of the river, Obuda on another side, and Pest in between them - hence its name 'BudaPest'.
