Visit Heves County


Heves County is located in the north-eastern part of Hungary. The county's natural beauty makes it a popular destination for tourists. Its rolling hills, forests and rivers are home to a variety of wildlife, making it an ideal location for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping and fishing.

The area has long been known for its rich cultural heritage: Heves was once home to several important cities during the medieval period including Nyiregyhaza, Tarnok and Kisvarda. Notable historical figures closely associated with Heves County include Janos Hunyadi, a Hungarian nobleman who served as King of Hungary from 1446 to 1453; and John II Sigismund Zapolya, the first independent king of Hungary from 1540 until his death in 1571.
