The Eastern Region of Iceland is a remote yet stunningly beautiful area. Filled with glaciers, vast lava fields, and scattered lakes, it is the perfect place to explore the Icelandic countryside. The region's two main towns are Egilsstadir and Seydisfjordur, each offering many sites and activities for visitors.

One must-see destination in Egilsstadir is Lagarfljot Lake - a large lake surrounded by lush mountain forests that holds many mysteries and legends. It is said to contain an elusive sea monster known as Lagarfljotsormurinn!

Seydisfjordur also has plenty of attractions worth visiting, such as the Folk Museum where visitors can learn about local history and traditions. Additionally, Hengifoss waterfall - one of Iceland's tallest waterfalls - can be found nearby in the small town of Fellabaer.

As well as its breathtaking scenery and exciting culture, the Eastern Region also has a fascinating history; dating all the way back to 940AD when it was first settled by Vikings coming from Norway.
