Discover Mumbai

12.5 million

Mumbai, located in the Indian state of Maharashtra, is a vibrant and culturally diverse metropolis. With over 12 million inhabitants, Mumbai is India's most populous city. It is also the country's financial and entertainment capital, home to some of India's top universities and businesses.

The city has a rich colonial history with many of its buildings dating back to British Raj period. Visitors can explore this past by visiting landmarks such as the Gateway of India or the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (formerly known as Prince of Wales Museum). Tourists can also take part in one of Mumbai's famous festivals such as Dahi Handi or Ganesh Chaturthi.

Two other must-experiences when visiting are sampling delicious street food from vendors in places like Juhu Beach and taking a boat ride on the Arabian Sea for stunning views of the iconic skyline. The best times to visit are during winter between December to February when temperatures are milder and there is lesser chance for rain showers.
