Visit Manipur

Manipur is a state located in the northeastern part of India, bordered by Nagaland to the north, Mizoram to the south, and Assam to the west. It has a rich cultural heritage and is known for its vibrant music and dance forms.

One of its most famous tourist attractions is Loktak Lake, which features floating phumdis (masses of vegetation). The lake is home to numerous migratory birds and provides plenty of opportunities for fishing, boating and picnicking. Other popular destinations include Ima Keithel Market - India's only all-female market - as well as several ancient temples such as Sri Govindji Temple in Imphal.

The region was once an independent kingdom with its own language called Meitei. Manipur played an important role in India's struggle for independence from British rule, providing supplies and volunteers to assist in the fight against colonialism. It is also known as one of the birthplace locations of polo - a version of which was first played in Manipur over 500 years ago!
