Visit Nāgāland

Nagaland is a small, largely mountainous state in northeastern India. The capital Kohima has an interesting history as the site of an important World War II battle between British and Japanese forces. The state is home to 16 different tribes, each with their own distinct dialects and customs. As a result, Nagaland is extremely culturally diverse and its people are welcoming to visitors.

Visitors should definitely check out Dzukou Valley for breathtaking views of greenery and terraced hillsides, or head to the Nagaland State Zoo & Park for some wildlife spotting. Another must-see spot is Kachari Ruins in Dimapur, ruins of an ancient civilization that date back centuries ago.
Historically, Christianity has had a strong presence in Nagaland since it was introduced by British missionaries during colonialism in the 19th century; today almost 90% of the population identifies as Christian!
